On our Golden Gate Bay Cruise you’ll discover the city’s colorful history and world famous landmarks with personal headphone audio in 16 languages. During the Golden Gate Bay Cruise, you may also experience up-close wildlife encounters including seagulls, pelicans, and sea lions. At times, you may see even harbor porpoises and whales, so be alert!
Departing from the heart of historic Fisherman’s Wharf at Pier 43½, cruise alonside the San Francisco’s remarkable cityscape and view the lively neighborhood of North Beach, the famous swimming clubs of Aquatic Park, the historic vessels moored at Hyde Street Pier, the San Francisco Maritime National Park, and numerous other exciting sights along the way. As you head west towards the Golden Gate Bridge, you’ll view Fort Mason and the Marina District, which was damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Next, take in views of Crissy Field and the lush hillsides of the Presidio – both former Army installations – that are now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Don’t miss incredible photo opportunities while cruising directly under the massive 4,200-foot long, 746-foot high span of the Golden Gate Bridge.
As you head back into the Bay, travel past the wildlife reserves of the Marin Headlands and the legendary town of Sausalito, which was once home to the late-1960’s Flower Generation. With Angel Island State Park to your left, you’ll slowly cruise around (and up-close to) the infamous Alcatraz Island. On your way back to Fisherman’s Wharf, you’ll see the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, and Coit Tower in the distance.
After a full-hour of exciting sights on Red and White Fleet’s Golden Gate Bay Cruise, the barking sea lions over at nearby Pier 39 will welcome you back as you approach Pier 43½. Here, you can visit two National Historic Landmarks, the WWII submarine USS Pampanito and merchant marine vessel SS Jeremiah O’Brien.

Rhyolite is a ghost town in Nye County, in the U.S. state of Nevada. It is in the Bullfrog Hills, about 120 miles northwest of Las Vegas, near the eastern edge of Death Valley. The town began in early 1905 as one of several mining camps that sprang up after a prospecting discovery in the surrounding hills.

Arrive in Amargosa Valley, California After our morning process, we leave Nevada and re-enter California as we arrive at Death Valley Junction. From here we enter Death Valley where will explore the incredible landmarks at Death Valley. You will experience some of the best locations in Death Valley National Park. (see below for details).
DEATH VALLEY Death Valley is the largest U.S. National Park outside Alaska at 3.4 million acres. Nearly 1000 miles of paved and dirt roads provide access to locations both popular and remote. Even so, 91% of the park is protected as officially designated Wilderness. That wild country includes low valley floors crusted with barren salt flats, rugged mountains rising as much as 11,000 feet, deep and winding canyons, rolling sand dunes, and spring-fed oases.
In this below-sea-level basin, steady drought and record summer heat make Death Valley a land of extremes. Yet, each extreme has a striking contrast. Towering peaks are frosted with winter snow. Rare rainstorms bring vast fields of wildflowers. Lush oases harbor tiny fish and refuge for wildlife and humans. Despite its morbid name, a great diversity of life survives in Death Valley.
POI: DEVIL’S GOLF COURSE
The Devil's Golf Course is a large salt pan on the floor of Death Valley, located in the Mojave Desert within Death Valley National Park.
POI: BADWATER BASIN
Vast salt flats at the lowest elevation in North America with a depth of 282 ft below sea level.
Hike: NATURAL BRIDGE HIKE
Length: 2 miles (3.2km) out and back round trip Time: 45 minutes round trip Difficulty: Easy Elevation Gain: 86 ft (26m)
POI: MESQUITE FLAT SAND DUNES
Length: 2 miles (3.2km) round trip out and back Time: 1.5 hours round trip Difficulty: Easy to Moderate Elevation Gain: 185 ft (65m)
DAY 9: Thursday 26th September
Amargosa Valley > Las Vegas 200kms
Today we slowly make our way towards Las Vegas after a good nights rest.
’Whirlpool' This mornings very light pool session is all about mobility and recovery. We will finish with a stretch to ensure we hit the road feeling amazing! Time: Sunrise
Let’s go to Las Vegas!!!!
Before we arrive into Vegas we will be stopping for a good feed at the famous Pioneer Saloon which is located at Goodsprings, Nevada south of Las Vegas. The history displayed all over the walls will keep you busy for long as you like. We will also stay for lunch if you are set for a bite!
POI: THE PIONEER SALOON
Built in 1913, by prominent business man George Fayle, will charm and envelope you with its intriguing past. As you cross the threshold from the present to the past, leaving behind the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip you will quickly come to appreciate this historical landmark.
The interior and exterior walls are of stamped tin and manufactured by Sears and Roebuck. It is thought to be one of the last, if not the last of its kind in the United States. The legendary bar installed in 1913 was manufactured by the Brunswick Company in Maine in the 1860's. As you belly up to wet your whistle you will rest your foot on the original brass foot rail installed when the bar was built.
Many movies have been filmed here but the genuine stories of the Pioneer Saloon do not live in the lines of a movie script but in the echoes of the past.
The famous screen legend, Clark Gable, waited for three days at the bar for word on his wife of less than two years Carole Lombard. She was lost in a plane crash near Mount Potosi. You will be able to read this tragic story on an original newspaper and see a piece of the actual wreckage.
At one time the saloon was next to a hotel that not only served as a comfortable rest place for the many prospectors and miners in the west... it also served as a place where street girls would frequent with their clients.
The hotel is gone now after a severe fire left only ashes to remember. The many tales from the bar along with bullet holes, the pot bellied stove and the paper clippings are just a few of the things that will keep you immersed in the exciting era of the old Wild West.
Arrive in Las Vegas, Nevada
FREE TIME On arrival and check in to our comfortable 5 star hotel, we will now have time to settle in to our final stay for this epic journey. You have plenty of time to walk the bustling Las Vegas Strip, go shopping at the outlets, book a show, or simply relax in the hotel.
Whatever you decide to do, we recommend an early night as tomorrow is a full day exploring the amazing Grand Canyon across the border in Arizona.
*THE HAUNTED MUSEUM For the Ghost Adventures fans, there is the recently opened Zak Bagan's 'The Haunted Museum' downtown, Las Vegas. This place is so haunted you need to sign a waiver before entering. Who's in? (Hours 1pm - 9pm). Optional & an extra cost on the day ($44USD pp)
DAY 10: Friday 27th September
360 CHALLENGE DAY Time: Early 'Covert' _#*!-
Breakfast (well earn't)
Tour: GRAND CANYON WEST RIM, ARIZONA
7am pick up by our tour guide. A trip to the Grand Canyon is simply incomparable, and our Grand Canyon West Rim Classic Tour ensures you will enjoy an authentic experience at this natural wonder. Plus, plenty of Southwest sights on the journey there and back. Our knowledgeable Certified Interpretive Tour Guides and custom Tour Trekker will make this one journey you’ll never forget.
To start, we will be picked up from our hotel and give you a comfortable ride with unobstructed views during the drive to Eagle Point. Along the way, you’ll see Lake Mead; as the largest man-made reservoir in the country, it contains enough water to flood the entire state of New York. You’ll also travel through a Joshua Tree forest that is unique to the Mojave Desert.
Eagle Point is home to the Hualapai Village, a native Arizona tribe whose ancestors date back to A.D. 600. Upon your arrival, you will be treated with a barbecue lunch with vegetarian options. Eagle Point is also home to the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a glass and steel structure that extends 70 feet out over the rim and gives you views of the canyon floor over 4,000 feet below. It’s an experience that will make you feel like you’re walking on air.
Guano Point is another highlight of this tour. Walk out to the edge of the point for nearly 360-degree views. The natural bat cave located here was the location of a climactic scene in the film “Edge of Eternity” (Columbia Pictures, 1959). See if you can spot parts of the historic tram that stretched across the canyon to a guano mine.
After your time at the canyon, you’ll head back to Las Vegas. A quick stop for a photo op at the iconic Hoover Dam will showcase this concrete architectural wonder that holds back the waters of Lake Mead. The Hoover Dam is a National Historic Landmark.
There’s much to see and do during our Grand Canyon West Rim Classic Tour, but we’ll make sure you catch all the best sights. A combination of history and stunning beauty makes this journey unforgettable.
Optional Skywalk admission is an additional cost.
On our return to the hotel, there will be free time until our send off dinner.
